Welcome, new Lakeshore Leopards! Congratulations on your placement at Lakeshore Elementary School. We welcome you and your family to our diverse community. Your child will soon enjoy a rich curriculum with our wonderful classroom teachers. We have a beautiful natural environment, community-driven mural that we’re very proud of, creative enrichment programs, and a wide variety of gardens that provide science curriculum opportunities as well as experiential learning.
Preparing for school can feel overwhelming, especially in this unusual year. Here are some to-dos to cross off your list:
Connect
Accept Your Placement
If you received an assignment letter stating that you have been automatically enrolled, you do not need to Accept; SFUSD will automatically enroll you in your assigned school. For all other students, please follow the instructions at sfusd.edu/schools/enroll/enroll.
ParentVUE and ParentSquare
- Set up your SFUSD ParentVUE account if you haven’t already to see report cards, attendance, District communication, and your student’s login to SFUSD digital learning platforms like Google Classroom, Seesaw, and Clever.
- Accept your invitation to ParentSquare to hear updates from Lakeshore administration, your teachers, the PTA, and fellow parents and guardians. This is the best way to stay up-to-date with all things Lakeshore. This communication platform is an essential tool for helping us connect and get you the essential information you need. Invitations will go out just before the school year starts, in early August.
- If you have not received an invitation by the week before school starts, email ps-admin@LakeshoreElementary.org with your student’s name, your name, the email and/or cell phone you wish to use for the ParentSquare app, and a screenshot of ParentVUE showing that you are on your child’s official record.
- If your ParentSquare account is activated and you wish to change your contact information, you can change your email or phone number in your ParentSquare account, or email ps-admin@LakeshoreElementary.org and we’ll take care of it for you.
- Tip: ParentVUE is run by SFUSD for the whole district. ParentSquare is run by Lakeshore, just for Lakeshore families. The two systems are separate.
- Download the ParentSquare app. Do you have to? No. You can log in on a laptop/desktop computer. Does it make life more convenient? Yes! Get it at the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

Prepare
- Make sure you’ve satisfied SFUSD’s medical requirements.
- Make sure your contact information is up-to-date in ParentVUE.
- After July 1, 2024, fill out the Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF) at schoolcafe.com to secure essential funding for our school.
- Complete the Student Family Handbook Acknowledgements.
- Complete any forms requested by Kindergarten teachers towards the start of school to get familiar with your child.
- Learn the lay of the land from our school map. TK is in room 10, while the Kindergarten rooms are 6, 8, and 12. SDC K–3 is room 4.
- Gather materials for school:
- Backpack that fits folder for 8.5 x 11″ paper
- Reusable/refillable water bottle
- Lunch or snack containers if you choose to pack food from home. All students have access to school lunch, as well.
- Change of clothes in case of an accident
- Lakeshore will provide all other basic supplies, though each teacher might have a general wish list for their classroom, to be shared at a later time.
- LABEL EVERYTHING! Every year, so many mysterious sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, and lunchboxes sit in the lost and found, never to be reunited with their owners.
