The Lakeshore School Site Council welcomes any interested members of the school community or the general public to participate in our monthly online meetings throughout the school year via this Zoom link: https://tinyurl.com/SSC-Meeting
What is School Site Council?
The School Site Council (SSC) is the main governing body of the school comprised of teachers/staff and parents/guardians who work with the Principal to ensure quality education for Lakeshore students. The primary role of the SSC is to guide the site planning process which ensures that the needs of all students are addressed in the Balanced Scorecard (formerly the Academic Plan). The Balanced Scorecard is a living document that highlights the goals for the school and its programs.
If you are interested in understanding how budget resources (of Federal, State and District funds) are allocated at Lakeshore to best support effective teaching and learning, you may be interested in attending our SSC meetings. SSC is responsible for looking at academic performance data as well as qualitative information about culture and climate at Lakeshore in order to inform important site level decisions about staffing and resource allocation, hopefully in support of keeping Lakeshore a strong and vibrant community, able to serve a diverse population of learners.
Becoming a SSC Member
You do not need to be elected to attend an SSC meeting, but if you wish to become a voting member, elections for a two-year term are held every year in September to fill vacant seats. If you care about these things and are able to commit to one Zoom meeting per month (Monday evenings, dates are on the Lakeshore calendar), we invite you to put yourself forward as a candidate for the SSC. Interested candidates should email SSC with a brief paragraph introducing who you are, your connection to the school, the reason for your interest in the SSC. The paragraph will be used as your “Candidate Statement” and circulated to the school on ParentSquare during the election.
