Hard to believe that the first day of school is around the corner! Please join us or help at several events happening in the next two weeks.
Thursday, August 8 at 3pm: Class assignment letter envelope stuffing. Ever wonder how those letters containing the name of your child’s teacher make it home to you? By Lakeshore volunteer power! Help stuff these letters so they are sent in time. Contact Heather Kyi at heatherklakeshorepta@gmail.com if you can spare an hour.
Sunday, August 10, 10am-noon: Lakeshore summer playdate at Lakeshore on the K yard. All grades and both new and returning families are invited to play and mingle! If you can, please bring a nut-free snack to share.
Before Thursday, August 15: Bulletin board Help make the lobby welcoming for the start of school. Contact pta@LakeshoreElementary.org if you can work on the bulletin board going down from the office to the K yard before August 15. Ideas provided or bring your own.
Thursday, August 15 from 6-7:30pm: New Family Orientation. Incoming families are invited. Kinder teachers will meet with new students and parents. Families of students in older grades will be offered a tour. (Teachers in older grades will not be attending.) Returning families, please sign up to help prepare for our incoming families by setting up, handing out welcome folders, and cleaning up, among other tasks.
Friday, August 16: Staff Welcome Luncheon. Let’s make the fabulous teachers and staff feel great with a tasty buffet. The PTA will provide a main dish but we need donations of appetizers, sides, salads, desserts, and drinks. Cash donations also accepted. Sign up if you can donate or help out! Until 11am, drop off dishes marked “STAFF LUNCH” in the staff lounge (to the left of the main doors). Label anything you need returned with your name and email or phone number. We also need help with set up at 10am and clean up at 1pm.
Monday, August 19: Tears and Cheers. See the kids off to their first day of school then join other parents to wipe any tears over celebratory coffee and breakfast treats! Meet in the Community Room from 9:30-10:30. Coffee will be provided. Please feel free to bring baked goods to share. If you can help with coffee pickup, setup, or cleanup, please sign up. This is a great opportunity to meet returning parents, ask any questions you may have, and sign up for volunteer positions. Lakeshore depends on the support of volunteers to offer many of our great activities, so come find out how you can get involved.
Friday, August 23: School Kick-Off Dance Party. Celebrate the first week of school! K-2 classes dance from 1:40-2:25. Grades 3-5 dance from 2:35-3:20. Families are invited to party, and help is needed between 12:30-4:15pm. Please sign up online and help us make some noise!
