A Letter from Principal Hartford

Dear Lakeshore families,

As you likely know, Lakeshore was evacuated Monday December 17, 2018 after Lowell High School received a bomb threat. The threat came in after Lowell had been dismissed for the day, but Lakeshore was still in session. SFPD immediately responded and investigated the threat. After a thorough investigation, police deemed that the threat had no merit. In an abundance of caution, Lakeshore was evacuated during the investigation because of its proximity to Lowell.

We also want to let you know that another, separate threat was made against Lowell today. We have no reason to believe this was a real threat. As a precaution, the police have been investigating the threat, and have provided extra patrols near Lowell and Lakeshore today. Classes were in session today as usual at both schools. As further precautions, students are being kept off the yard for recess and PE, and the perimeter is being closely monitored.

Many families have reached out to us concerned that they didn’t receive notification from the school district. The link below has all the information you should need to receive notifications in the future.

Your child’s safety is our utmost concern, and I want to commend our staff that kept students safe during yesterday’s evacuation. I also wanted to commend students, parents and guardians who were patient and helpful during this stressful time. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Matthew Hartford
