Message from Ms. Keener and Mr. McCauslin
Mindfulness gives us another way to notice and appreciate each other and the things we are thankful for. Take a moment during this holiday week to let your child show you one of the ways we’ve practiced mindfulness. Thanksgiving is a time to show our gratitude for the things in our lives we appreciate. There are many ways to use mindfulness to embrace gratitude. We can be grateful in any moment, positive or challenging. It is easy to be grateful in the positive moments and for the things we appreciate. It is more difficult to embrace the challenging moments. Today at our Morning Greeting we practiced gratitude with mindfulness. We thought about things we’re grateful for and imagined them around us, then noticed how that made us feel. Focusing on things that make us happy is a good way to be mindful when things become challenging. We discovered that we can be grateful for big things and for small things. If we think of these things every day, we can be happier, kinder people. We all have sad or angry moments, but if we only focus on those times, we will only notice those feelings. We at Lakeshore are grateful for the continued support and caring of our children’s families. Thank you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
