Announcements – March 16

Test Preparation
Test preparation continues this week in grades 2-5. A few of the specific strategies include:
•    Read the test question and ALL answer choices before marking anything.
•    Eliminate answers you know aren’t correct.
•    Read questions to a reading passage before reading the passage. Then, paraphrase the question to yourself to understand what the question is asking.

Below are key dates for parents to support our test preparation.
•    Week of March 14th – Teachers will continue to teach students test prep strategies. They will share test prep materials to parents/guardians during Parent/Teacher conferences.
•    Wednesday, March 23rd – Student test preparation booklets sent home for parents/guardians to continue preparation during the week of Spring Break (3/28-4/1)
•    FURLOUGH DAY Friday, March 25th
•    SPRING BREAK March 28th – April 1st
•    April 6th – STAR California Standards Testing OFFICIALLY begins district wide. However, we will use this week to review strategies and material and officially begin testing on Tuesday, April 12th.

The testing schedule is linked here. It is being sent home on Wednesday, March 23rd and it has been posted in the school lobby.

Last call for this design! A new design will be introduced in the fall and we need to move what we have left!

Let’s Save Motor!
Due to budget cuts, the Motor Perception Program at Lakeshore is in danger of being canceled for the remainder of the school year. To save Motor’s meaningful fun, we’re asking that all K-3 families contribute a minimum of $5 to their child’s classroom motor fund. This will ensure the continuation of this enriching program through the month of April. Please contribute a minimum of $5 to your child’s classroom Motor fund. Cash or checks payable to “Lakeshore PTA” accepted. (Please write “motor” on the memo line.) Donations are due in your class by March 18th.
