Announcements – January 6

Community Meeting-Green Schoolyards
Please come to our Green Schoolyard Community Meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 7th from 6:30-8:00. We are excited to announce the beginning of the planning phase for our Green Schoolyard. You are invited to share your vision, insight and submit feedback in this very important phase of our gardens. We are also looking for community members who are interested in serving on a Green Schoolyard Committee with our garden consultants Martha Luna and Jean Butler. The goal of the Green Schoolyard program is to provide children with the opportunity to directly experience nature through educational programs that take place within their immediate schoolyards. The SFUSD Green Schoolyard program was established with funding provided by a school improvement bond issue for the purpose of giving children the chance to forge a link with nature that has the potential to benefit them not only during their school years but throughout their entire lives. – Ms. Keener

Spring Auction!
Lakeshore’s next big fundraiser and social event is coming up; the Spring Auction.  If you are interested in being on the organizing committee (or even just finding out more about it), please contact Megumi Fuse (fuse@sfsu.edu).  We will be having our first big organizational meeting in late January. And even if you think you have already told me you will be on the committee, please let me know again officially – thanks! – Megumi Fuse

Library Fundraiser
A big thanks to Shannon Hunts and Susie Wright for their hard work in helping West Portal’s Peet’s Coffee (and customers) raise over $2,700 for the Lakeshore Library fund.  Peet’s generously matched the first $1000 worth of donations through a program they run every year around the winter holidays.  Hope some of you were able to go visit, and get free coffee on Dec. 24th! – Megumi Fuse
