Science Fair
Wednesday, March 9, 2011
It’s time to start thinking about projects for the Science Fair. Fliers will be sent home with students next week with a detailed description of the Science Fair schedule, a brief description of the scientific method, and some guidelines to follow in creating a science project.

Thanks!
A big thanks to John Kennedy, Susanne Hilty, Adriana Leiva and Ben Polacco for a great Family Night on Wed., Feb. 16. There was a lot of energy in the room, and the true spirit of family games and activities came through! And a special thanks to John Kennedy, for his many years organizing Family Math Night as he moves on from Lakeshore to Middle school!

Grant Awarded!
Congratulations to Grace Grafton (Poet-in-residence) and Liesel Harris-Boundy for receiving a $3,000 grant awarded from the Blackie Foundation, which gives educational and environmental grants. As part of California Poets in Schools (a non-profit organization), Grace Grafton’s longtime work at Lakeshore (20+ years) was particularly impressive. The grant will help cover publishing our annual anthology of students’ poetry and will be given to all Lakeshore students, free of charge. Thanks also for the outstanding poetry night that they hosted, that featured so many Lakeshore student poets!
