Announcements – April 20

The Lakeshore Spring Auction Needs Sponsors
If you have a favorite local business (store, restaurant, dentist, etc.) that you think might be willing to support a good cause, ask them to sponsor our upcom- ing Spring Auction. Sponsors help offset the cost of putting on the auction by buying valuable advertising space for their businesses. The sponsorship form is available on the Lakeshore Auction web site: https://lakeshoreelementary.org/auction/
Completed forms are due back by April 25th (see form for details).

Summer Camp
Everyday Magic is gearing up for summer! Our weekly specialty camps are presented by members of Lakeshore School’s staff. If you have not yet received a flier in your child’s backpack, you can find all the information you’ll need on our website www.everyday-magic.org
or call 681-9168. Scholarships are available. The deadline is May 2, 2011.

Buy Your Lakeshore Spring Auction Tickets Online and SAVE!
The deadline to purchase tickets online for Lakeshore’s Spring Auction has been extended to April 28th. Tickets purchased online are $20 each, or $70 if you buy a pack of 4 tickets (a $10 savings). Special discounted tickets are also available online for families of students enrolled in Lakeshore’s subsidized lunch program. Tickets purchased at the door of the event are $25, so buy your tickets ahead of time online and save money! To buy tickets, visit Lakeshore’s auction web site: https://lakeshoreelementary.org/auction/
and click the “Buy Will Call tickets now” link. The Spring Auction is Lakeshore’s biggest fundraising event of the year and will be held on Saturday, April 30th at the Janet Pomeroy Center in San Francisco.

Please turn in your Raffle Tickets!
Please be sure to turn in your raffle ticket stubs and money once you have sold one or both of the books that were sent home. We’ve had a lot of requests for more tickets, and many extra packets picked up from the office, but not many packets of sold tickets and money have been turned in. If you are picking up extra tickets from the office, please be sure to turn in the ones you have already sold first. This will help us with the tracking of who has sold the most, as well as the class sales totals. If we receive a great number of packets turned in at the very end (April 29), there may be a delay in the reporting of the contest winners while we count everything. Receiving them continuously over the next two weeks will make the counting process go more smoothly. Also, if you are not able to sell all of your raffle tickets, please return them to the office so they can be redistributed and sold. – Heather Baria

The catalog of items to sell is still growing and can be accessed from the Lakeshore website. Meanwhile, here is a small sampling of some of the great items that will be available:
•    Table for Ten at Stern Grove 2011 season, donated by Stern Grove Festival
•    Parkhopper tickets for four donated by Disneyland Resort
•    $350 Gift Certificate for Gary Danko restaurant
•    Brand new child’s 1⁄2 size violin with carrying case donated by Inspire Music
•    Gift certificates for Everyday Magic childcare and summer camp
•    Handmade ceramic bowls and platters painted by Lakeshore students

STAR Testing Update
We have finished up with our first week of testing and it went well! Testing begins this week on Tuesday. Every child in grades 2-5 who arrived to school on time received a raffle ticket. On Friday, our Student Council members drew 10 names for healthy snacks. We appreciate your support in getting your child to school on time and ready for testing!

TV Turnoff Challenge-Week of April 18th
Students and families are encouraged to turn off their TV’s, computers and video games and pursue physical activities and a healthier lifestyle. This activity is perfectly aligned with our standardized testing. A good night’s sleep, no TV and a healthy breakfast will help students perform better on tests this week and year-round! This is an excellent time to practice healthy breakfast habits and a no-TV policy. Rather than turn on“the TV or video games why not turn on the radio and dance, blow bubbles and try catching them or create sidewalk art with chalk! – Ms. Keener

Last Auction Meeting Tonight!
The auction is fast approaching, and we really need one final meeting to settle all plans and make this auction a huge success. I will not be available on the auction weekend at all, so I need as many of you at the meeting as possible, so we can all do our part to ensure that everything gets done and runs smoothly. We need you all, whether or not you are Chairing a committee, as many more volunteers are needed. Please let me know if you can make this important meeting. – Megumi Fuse
