STAR testing started yesterday!
Students seem focused and ready for the test! Please continue to keep your child focused for STAR testing by:
- Encouraging him/her to do well but don’t pressure him/her. You may stress him/her out. It is important for your child to stay relaxed on the test.
- Use the Mindful test taking strategies that teachers and Mr. McCauslin shared during the morning greeting and in class.
- Keep a positive attitude about tests.
- Mark down test days on your calendar so you and your child are both aware of testing dates.
- Make sure that your child gets enough sleep on the night before the test.
- Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and avoid heavy foods that may make him/her groggy and avoid high sugar foods that may make him/her hyper.
- Make sure that your child gets up early enough so that he/she will be on time to school. Help to support our goal of 100% on time attendance!
- DON’T STRESS, DO YOUR BEST ON THE TEST!
All students, grades 2-5, who arrive on time and are present for each day of testing will receive a raffle ticket for special drawings like a gift certificate to Nubi yogurt or lunch (not school lunch!) – Ms. Keener
Raffle Tickets are Here!
Raffle ticket packets went home with students on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. The raffle is a big revenue generator for the PTA to help pay for enrichment programs (art, music, poetry, motor, gardening etc.) that the children enjoy during the school year. It is very important that each family participates and sells at least one packet of tickets. If you are a family with more than one child in school, we ask that you sell at least one packet of tickets for the family. If you cannot sell all tickets sent home, please return the extras to the office so that they can be re-distributed. There is a box on the top of the faculty mail slots that says “Returned Tickets for Entry” and all ticket packets can be placed in there.
Additional raffle tickets can be picked up in the office from Ms. Mao starting Tuesday April 12. We will have a special prize for the student who sells the most raffle tickets in the entire school – a brand new Nintendo 3DS video game! Thank you for your participation! And, don’t forget to purchase your own raffle tickets. You too, are eligible to win one of the raffle prizes!!! -Heather Baria
Lost & Found
Please take a moment to look through the Lost & Found rack for any clothes or lunch boxes your child may have lost during the school year. The rack and some items on benches will be in the lobby during Parent- Teacher conference week. All unclaimed items will be donated to a charity at the end of May.
