Reminder about Headlice
Please review the “Guidelines for Parents to Control Head Lice” that is included with today’s newsletter. We want to work together to keep everyone headlice free! – Ms. Keener
Yard Safety
Please help us teach all of our children to practice safe behaviors on the yard. The playground structures can be a fun and appropriate place for children to play, but it is critical for them to understand how important it is to practice safe behaviors while they are playing. The Lakeshore teachers and staff remind students when playing on the structure to:
- Go down the slide, sitting, not standing or lying down – or head first!
- Do not jump from the top of the structure or slide.
- Go across the bars, one at a time. Do not jump from the platform and “skip” bars.
- Do not crawl across on top of the bars.
- Stay clear of children who are going across the bars. Often, children run underneath and, inadvertently, get kicked somewhere on their body. (This behavior can also start an argument, as children frequently think someone kicked them “on purpose”.)
- Follow structure “traffic” patterns.
- Keep hands to themselves. Do not grab or push others! (This includes “chicken fighting”!)
Please discuss these expectations with your child. Your support in keeping our children safe is greatly appreciated! – Ms. Keener
Open Positions on the PTA
- The PTA is looking for a Spring Fling Chair. Help us give the kids a wonderful weekend of fun activities. We have many volunteers to help, but need someone to coordinate.
- The PTA is looking for someone to order (through Kinko’s) and hang banners for school events.
- The PTA is looking for a volunteer coordinator. Your main jobs are to (1) tabulate parent participation forms at the beginning of the year (this has already been done this year), and (2) remind event Chairs to contact parent volunteers throughout the year. If you are comfortable in excel, and email, and want to help out on your own time, perhaps in the evenings, this is the job for you. For further information, contact Megumi Fuse fuse@sfsu.edu
