Message from Ms. Keener
Welcome back to all of our new and returning Lakeshore families! We are looking forward to a productive, engaging and joyful school year and to getting to know our incoming families. The Paw Print Press, our school newsletter, is sent out with other school notices and announcements in our Wednesday envelopes. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack every Wednesday for important information.
Back To School Night
So that we may support our families who have children in both K-2 and 3-5, we have scheduled Back to School night on one evening only. Please MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Back To School Night: K-5 Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 6:30- 8:00. More information about Back to School Night will be sent home in the next two weeks in the Paw Print Press.
Student Nutrition Services
All Student Nutrition forms must be turned in. If you applied online, we still need to have the form returned with “TURNED IN ONLINE” written across the form. All forms must be turned in by September 16th! This way, we will insure that every child is accounted for. Thank you for your cooperation!
Student Absences
If your child is ill, please remember to call the school office at 759-2825 and also send a note when s/he returns. If this information is not documented, the absence will not be excused.
Message from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Co-Presidents
Welcome to the 2011-12 school year at Lakeshore! We look forward to working with you to enrich our children’s education and build school community involving all students and their families. The Lakeshore PTA provides many enrichment programs to all Lakeshore students, such as classes in Motor Perception and Physical Education, Gardening and Science, Studio Art, Poetry, Theater and more. The PTA relies on generous donations from our community as well as various fundraisers to provide these programs. In addition, we sponsor fun community events that can include potlucks, festivals and picnics, as well as education-themed events such as Book Fair, Math and Literacy Night, and Science Fair. Stay tuned, we are working on new fun events this year!
We encourage all parents, caregivers and teachers to attend our monthly PTA meetings (held first Wednesday of the month, 6:30 – 8:00 PM, childcare provided for school-age children). At these meetings we typically: 1) Address any school district or Lakeshore news that is of interest to our families. 2) Allow time for attendees to speak out about any issues or questions they might have related to the school. 3) Discuss our program and fundraising goals and address any challenges with meeting those goals. 4) Vote as necessary on budget or other topics requiring membership approval.
Our first meeting is Wednesday Sept. 7, Lakeshore Community Room, 6:30 – 8:00 PM. We intend to kick off the first meeting with a forum on the PTA’s mission and goals. Come find out what we do and help define where we are going!
Childcare provided for school-age children. Please join us!
