Welcome back!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring break and are rested and rejuvenated. It is difficult to believe that we only have 2 more months of school!
Please continue to work with your child/ren to prepare for the California Standards Test beginning Tuesday, April 12th. Below are a few reminders to get your child ready for STAR testing:
- Encourage your child to do well but don’t pressure him/her. You may stress him/her out. It is important for your child to stay relaxed on the test.
- Keep a positive attitude about tests.
- Mark down test days on your calendar so you and your child are both aware of testing dates.
- Make sure that your child gets enough sleep on the night before the test.
- Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and avoid heavy foods that may make him/her groggy and avoid high sugar foods that may make him/her hyper.
- Make sure that your child gets up early enough so that he/she will be on time to school. Help to support our goal of 100% on “time attendance!
-Ms. Keener
Bike to School Day is TOMORROW, Thursday April 7th
Join other Lakeshore families and ride your bike with your child to school. A group of families will meet up in the driveway of a Lakeshore family at 1741 Eucalyptus (at Havenside) between 8:45 and 9:10. This is just four short blocks from Lakeshore. For younger children and families who live too far to bike from home, you can drive your bikes to this location to start your bike-ride. Those riding farther, please stop by for socializing and bagels on your way to school. From here, we will leave as a group at around 9:15 to arrive at Lakeshore. Goodie bags will be provided to all student riders (while supplies last) who arrive at Lakeshore on bikes. Remember to bring a lock for any bike that you plan to leave at Lakeshore.
Summer Camp
Everyday Magic is gearing up for summer! Our weekly specialty camps are presented by members of Lakeshore School’s staff. If you have not yet received a flier in your child’s backpack, you can find all the information you’ll need on our website www.everyday-magic.org
or call 681-9168. Scholarships are available. The deadline is May 2, 2011.
Hello Lakeshore families,
The Save-Motor fundraiser was a huge success, with over $2400 in revenue to sustain motor for the rest of the semester. With such enthusiastic support, I will propose increasing Motor in the budget for next year to a full year’s worth of support. Big thanks to Melisa Howard, Michelle Chambliss, Melanie Vose, Irene Conte, Lisa Weinberg, Todd Pound and all the room parents and teachers who really made a strong plea to get 100% participation.
