Fifth Grade Physical Education Testing
Every 5th grade student is tested on physical education skills. Testing continues through April 8th. If you would like more information on the skills tested, call the school office or discuss your questions with your 5th grade child’s teacher.

California Standards Test (CST)
The California Standards Testing schedule is from April 5 through May 5th. The testing schedule will be posted in the school lobby and on the school website by Monday, March 14th.
2011 Test Preparation In preparation for the upcoming California Standards Test, grade 2-5 teachers will instruct students on test taking strategies and tips. Test prep will begin the week of March 7th. Test prep booklets and test taking strategies will be shared with parents/guardians at Parent-Teacher Conferences the week of March 14th. The booklets will be sent home with your child on Wednesday, March 23rd, the week before Spring Break. This is a perfect opportunity for you to have a discussion and have him/her share and review strategies that they learned in preparing for the CST beginning April 5th through May 5th.

Middle School BOE Meeting
Please plan to attend the Board of Education meeting regarding Feeder school patterns for middle school. We are currently assigned Denman Middle School for Fall 2012, but we have the power to change that.
When: Wed., March 8, 6pm Where: 555 Franklin on the 1st floor (NOT Aptos!)
Why: Voice our concerns over a distant school and a lack of choice for parents – before the Board votes!
Stay tuned for updates via flyers that will be sent home. -Megumi Fuse PTA President

Thanks!
Thanks to Grace Grafton and Liesel Harris-Boundy for their strong efforts at setting up our first, of what I hope is our annual, poetry night. The children did an amazing job reading their poems, and parent contributions raised over $400 towards ensuring that poetry, and the poetry books continue at Lakeshore.

Lost & Found
Please take a moment to look through the Lost & Found rack for any clothes or lunch boxes your child may have lost during the school year. The rack and some items on benches will be in the lobby during Parent-Teacher conference week. All unclaimed items will be donated to a charity at the end of May.
