Evening With the Principal
All are invited to attend our first “Evening with the Principal” that is scheduled for Monday, December 13th. Our first evening’s focus is on safety at Lakeshore. We will be discussing what is working and areas that we can improve to create an environment where all children feel safe. We look forward to seeing you there!
PARENT’S/GUARDIAN’S/CAREGIVER’S VERIFICATION OF STUDENT’S ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
(SFUSD STUDENT HANDBOOK 2010-2011)
Young children, beginning with enrollment in kindergarten, adopt the attitude of their parents/guardians/caregivers toward the importance of going to school and being on time. We also realize that families face obstacles and crises from time to time, but all students should be encouraged to go to school except when they have a valid excuse. If a student is allowed to remain at home, the parent/guardian/caregiver must do one of the following:
• Call the attendance clerk at the school on the day of the absence.
• Identify yourself as the parent/guardian/caregiver of your student.
• Give the reason for the absence and the anticipated dates of absences.
Babysitting, going shopping, overslept, didn’t feel like going, and nothing to wear are unexcused absences.
• Write a note to the principal and send it with the student when he/she returns to school. The note should include the student’s name, the date of the absences to which the note refers, the reason for the absence, the signature of the responsible adult, and the date the note was written. If the parent/guardian/caregiver does not do at least one of the above, the student will be credited for “Unexcused Absences.” Accumulating 3 unexcused absences in one year will earn the student a “1st Declaration of Legal Truant” letter.
Attention 5th Grade Families!
Linda Ghnaim and Julie Lin will be coordinating the 5th grade graduation activities. This is such an exciting time for our 5th grade children. We hope to make graduation a grand and memorable experience for all! We will have a parent meeting in the beginning of January. Notification of date and time will be sent home shortly.
PTA Pledge
If you haven’t already done so, send in your PTA pledges! This is a great time to make last minute tax deductible donations! We are asking for 100% participation from our community. Donations can also be made through our website: Just click on the “Donate” button to make a payment via our PayPal account. The funds we raise will help Lakeshore to continue providing Art, Drama, Gardening, Motor Perception and so much more.
