Halloween
The Lakeshore Community is preparing for Halloween! In an effort to make it an enjoyable day for everyone, I have listed a few reminders:
- Masks are to be worn only during the parade and party.
- Blood dripping masks are very scary for many children and are not allowed!
- Weapons pose a safety risk. Please leave these at home.
- Keep costumes as least restrictive as possible.
- Be sure that costumes are age appropriate.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school office at 759-2825. – Ms. Keener
Parent STAR Information Web Site
The California Department of Education and the State Board of education have launched a new web site to help parents and teachers gain an understanding of the California Standards Test (Grades 2-5). The web site www.starsamplequestions.org will help parents in three (3) key ways:
- Understand how their child is performing
- Identify areas where their child/ren may need additional help
- Access resources related to the STAR test
A detailed letter is being sent home today with the Paw Print Press. – Ms. Keener
Tsunami Relief Fund
Please contribute to the Samoan Tsunami Relief fund for Ms. Mao’s community. A donation container for monetary donations is set up in the main office, and the proceeds will be donated for rebuilding schools and purchasing school materials for students in American Samoa and Samoa. The drive will continue until Oct. 30.
Picnic Thanks
A late thanks to all those that volunteered at the school picnic and those that attended.

Purchase Scrip—easy Fundraising for lakeshore!
Our scrip program is underway again this fall and you can buy scrip – gift cards or gift certificates – from many retailers like Arco, Safeway, Peet’s Coffee, Home Depot and lots more. Lakeshore gets a percentage (anywhere from 2% – 23%) of the money you spend with these retailers. You can purchase cards to cover your everyday household needs or you can get started on holiday shopping and buy gift cards for gifts or from stores where you’re going to do your holiday shopping. It’s easy fundraising because the money for Lakeshore comes from purchases that you would be making anyway. Orders are due on Thurs. October 22. Order forms and lists of retailers went home last week. Additional copies are available in the office or I can e-mail them to you. Questions? Contact Melissa McGinn
Multi Cultural Night Thank you
Thank you to all the Lakeshore families, current and past who helped make Multicultural Night a great event this year. The entertainment was fabulous as well was the food. Thank you to Lakeshore faculty and staff for all of your help in pulling this event together. And finally, thank you to Girl Scouts Troop 32754 for the fabulous decorations. Susan Anderson, Event Chair
Lost & Found
Please take a moment to check the Lost & Found rack in the lobby. It’s full with some very nice coats that look like they are favorite clothing items and are probably missed. Thank you!
