Aug | New Family Orientation | A program to help welcome new families into the Lakeshore community. |
Aug | Staff Appreciation Lunch | A chance for Lakeshore families to show our appreciation. |
Aug | Tears and Cheers – Coffee and Treats | All families, come join us in the Community Room after you drop-off your child. Wipe your tears and say a cheer over complimentary coffee and potluck breakfast donations. |
Aug | First Week Dance Party | Celebrate the first week of school with a dance party! |
Sep | Back to School Night | For returning students and new students in grades 1-5, provides the first opportunity of the school year to interact with your child’s teacher. |
Sep | Lakeshore Picnic | Bring some delicious food to share and enjoy the day at our schoolwide picnic. |
Sep-Oct | Annual Giving Campaign & Spirit Fridays | Our main fundraiser. The Annual Giving Campaign is a direct request for support and monetary donations for the PTA to fund programs that benefit all Lakeshore students. It runs about 3 weeks and we have 3 color themed Spirit Fridays. |
Oct | Greening Day | Come enjoy our gardens and other Lakeshore families’ company at this community work day. |
Oct | Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day | Lakeshore participates in this citywide event to celebrate getting around under your own power. Biking and walking trains are organized from several locations and prizes are waiting at school. |

Oct | Halloween | The Community Room transforms into a haunted house for the day, and students join in the playground costume parade. |
Nov | Picture Day | Class and individual pictures are taken and are made available for purchase. |
Nov | Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences | Conferences are a chance to sit down with your child’s teacher to talk about their progress. |
Dec | Disco Bingo | Get on your disco boots, broad collared shirts and striped pants to play bingo while enjoying the best tunes from the ’70’s. |
Dec | Staff Appreciation Lunch | All teachers and staff are invited to attend a lunch hosted by the families of Lakeshore. |
Jan/Feb | Kinder Dragon Parade | Usually happens around Lunar New Year. It’s Lakeshore tradition to have the kindergarteners parade through the hall as dragons while older kids cheer them on. |
Feb | Black History Month | Lakeshore recognizes the importance of this month, culminating in a community potluck at the end of February or early March. The event includes performances and recognition of our African American Honor Roll students. |
Mar | Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences | Conferences are a chance to sit down with your child’s teacher to talk about their progress. |
Mar | Greening Day | Come enjoy our gardens and other Lakeshore families’ company at this community work day. |
Mar | Maker Fair | Students turn common household items, cardboard boxes, and recyclables into STEM projects. |
Apr | Spring Auction | Depending on the year, we host an online-only auction or an in-person gala fundraiser with wine, beer, heavy appetizers, and music. The auction is our second largest fundraiser to support Lakeshore programs. The in-person event is a fun, adults-only event and a chance to mingle with friends, staff, and alumni. |

Apr | Superhero Saturday | Our spring carnival featuring games, community organizations, food, and activities. |
Apr-May | State Standardized Testing | Grades 3-5 take the state standardized tests: California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) |
May | Science Fair | Admire science projects created by students from all grades and take part in live demonstrations. |
May | Staff Appreciation Week | A full week of showing our teachers and staff our gratitude, with small, simple, suggested tokens of appreciation culminating in a breakfast on Friday. |
June | Graduation | Daytime festivities celebrate a momentous event for graduating fifth-graders and their families. |
June, July, August | Summer Playdates | A great way to meet friends before the year starts |
